HELP!
Okay, guys. Tasia needs a thesis and QUICK! It has to be about war violence against colonized women. I have no clue what to write. Things I’ve been considering: Examining the depiction of colonized women in war propaganda -how are the posed? -what do their bodies look like? -women in action? Port au Prince viewed as a refugee camp, and the violence against women that stems from this living...

Feminism as a character flaw among men
It is apparently abhorrent that I, a self and socially identified woman, identify as a feminist. This was made clear to me this weekend by a peer who loathes me because I am a feminist and am openly willing to disagree with him in class. But don’t worry, because apparently it’s okay to be a feminist if you are cismale. Then feminism is considered a character flaw at the most. I guess...

And this still happens. All the fucking time.
hoaxzine: fuckyeahgenderstudies: The beaten, bound or body-bagged woman became a staple of late-1980s fashion ads and editorial photo layouts. In the windows of major department stores female mannequins were suddenly being displayed as the battered conquests of leather-clad men and as corpses stuffed in rubbish bins. In Vogue, a fashion layout entitled HIDDEN DELIGHTS features one model in a...

Current thesis
In SLC Punk, the masculine is undeniably the Self, leaving all aspects of the feminine either harshly resisted or passively performing the role of the Other, creating a dialectic that propells Stevo through his evolution. I think this might be the weirdest paper I’ve ever written.

Help with recommended reading
Hey all, I’m doing a lot of thinking about Women in Philosophy and women’s spaces in general, especially in regards to their exclusivity and whether or not this is an okay thing. I’m pretty torn about it, so if anyone can recommend some reading material for me about such spaces (pro con or other), please let me know about it! Thanks!

To be working in the library again
I think people are confused about what it is I do here. See, I’m sitting at the front desk. That means questions like: Can I check out this book? Can I return this DVD? Do you have more staples? are all quite appropriate. However, questions like: Why did my computer turn off? How do I save to Darwin? Is this recyclable? Is this the same as working for the CTLT? are not appropriate. Also,...
