Suggestions welcome
Dearest followers, I’m attempting to pen a research paper about unique or jarring uses of sound in films with regards to a female subject. I will maintain that this bizarre use of sound create space for a female speaking subject in cinema, and may be grounds for a feminine writing, but I need some films. Suggestions so far include: Daughters of the Dust Cold Mountain Masculin, Feminin ...

mmm turkey
So, I know that Thanksgiving in radical land is supposed to be some sort of day of mourning or protest, and I get it, but I just had a boss two days and I wish Thanksgiving happened more often. So then I thought that, maybe, these thoughts could somehow go together. So here’s the plan. We have four or five Thanksgivings throughout the year, where we all take a day off of school and work to...

5 Most Demeaning TSA Horror Stories So Far →
zmizet: afghanibanani: 1. TSA agent feels around inside woman’s underwear: An ABC News producer says that while traveling recently, a TSA agent stuck a hand inside her underwear. “The woman who checked me reached her hands inside my underwear and felt her way around,” she said. “It was basically worse than going to the gynecologist. It was embarrassing. It was demeaning. It was inappropriate.” ...

my space is mine, ktanx
My space is my space. And I get to choose how I occupy that space and who is allowed to occupy it with me. This means that if you offer me a hug, and I say no, you have to accept it. It means that you really have no reason to feel offended, because it’s not a personal slight, it’s my personal choice. I do not like people touching me. I really never have. I always cried when I was a...

On Daughters of the Dust
I have no clue what the fuck I just watched. But I’m going to prepare a presentation on it anyways. Something about indigo and water and mirrors and self. Slavery and the notion of progress and the matriarch. If I was bell hooks, I’d know what I was talking about.

"You can't go home, but you can't stay here:"...
Here it is. The paper I’ve been struggling for over a month to write and edit to the proper length. About 200 years ago, the Aboriginal people of Australia were the only inhabitants of the continent, yet today, they comprise just under 2 percent of the country’s population. Once Captain James Cooke “discovered” Australia, declared the land terra nullus (meaning that it did not belong to any...

Long term goal
So maybe my post-graduation plan will be to achieve a grant of some kind and travel the world photographing philosophers. That way, all of the amazing theorists I love will have amazing photos for the backs of their books and other things. I can be the Annie Leibovitz of philosophy. I don’t know much, but I do know this would be the most epic project ever.

Community living is really good at adding stupid...
At noon community living tells me that since I have been approved for off campus housing, I must be gone by Monday OR ELSE. I reply by saying I thought I was supposed to leave next semester, but, despite leaving town for the entire weekend, I will be gone by Monday morning. I stop studying for my mid term that I’ll be taking in 3 hours to franticlly pack. I rush to my mid term, rush to...

What is a US czar? →
Okay, teabaggers. I know that the term czar is scary, but they’ve been around since FDR and Bush had at least 32 of them. Additionally, the term is used mostly by media and is not an offical position, but rather refers to a high-ranking offical specializing in something. So let’s not use this political title as a reason Obama is a monarch (although I’m still not quite sure how...
